3/8” Pea Gravel (HUP) – A small (3/8”) washed round stone used for pathways or driveways and as a decorative groundcover in landscaping. It does not compact and is sometimes used in playgrounds. Also used as a roofing stone.
5/8” Washed Round Stone (58WR) – A medium sized, washed round river stone used primarily as a drainage stone or as a decorative ground cover. Also suitable as a roofing stone.
1” Washed Round Stone (1WR) – A somewhat larger sized (3/4” to 1 ¼”) washed round river stone suitable for drainage stone applications and in septic beds. It is also popular as a decorative landscaping ground cover. Too large to be used for pathways or driveways.
1-3” Washed Round Stone (1-3R) – A washed round river stone used in landscaping applications as a decorative groundcover or in ponds.
3-5” Washed Round Stone (3-5R) – A washed round river stone used in landscaping applications as a decorative groundcover or in ponds.
6-12” Round Stone (6R) – This is a screened round stone and has not been washed. Is used for landscaping, ponds.
Over 12” Round Stone (12-20R) – A screened round stone that has not been washed. Used for landscaping.
Choker Sand – It is a washed sand used for decorative purposes, dog parks, septics, growing medium, bridging. Will not compact.
Washed Beach Sand (SCBE) – This is a washed sand used on beaches.
Playground Sand (PLAYSD) – Washed sand used for playgrounds. This product is CSA compliant.
1” Clear Black Granite (1BCR) – Uses include as decorative stone in landscaping, drainage stone around basements and for septic weepers. It is not recommended for driveways.
HL1 (1/2” Clear), HL3, HL4 (5/8” Clear), HL6 – Clear black granite that is used to make asphalt, to top dress driveways, as a decorative stone in landscaping. Is esthetically pleasing but will not compact.
5/8” High Float (58HF) – Used to top dress driveways. It packs very well, drains well and works great on slopes. It is black/grey in colour.
¾” Clear Crushed Granite – Clear crushed granite which is suitable for concrete and is popular as a drainage stone, it is generally considered too large for use on pathways or driveways.
Black A Gravel (78CRG) – Used to top dress driveways. It packs very well and works well on slopes. It is black/grey in colour.
1/4” Black Granite Screenings (HBCR) – Used for pathways, under interlocking brick, driveways, warning tracks. It is not recommended for slopes, as it will wash out.
1/8” Black Granite Screenings (BSNC) – Used for pathways, under interlocking brick, driveways, walkways. It is not recommended for slopes, as it will wash out.
Washed Black Granite Screenings (FC2W) – Manufactured sand produced from crushed granite. Packs very well when suitably compacted. It is an attractive surfacing material on pathways and driveways and is also used under pavers or inter-locking brick. Not recommended for use on slopes where it can be washed away.
1/4” Black Granite Chip (14CLGR) – Used for pathways, driveways, precast. Is esthetically pleasing but will not compact. Not recommended for hills.
Grey Granite Screenings (GCR) – Used for pathways, under interlocking brick and sometimes to top dress driveways, this product is very fine and is grey in colour.
Granular B Type 2 (GR2) – Used in very muddy or soft areas. It is also used in line ditches. It is black in colour.
Whitby Sand (WHB) – This is a washed sand that is approved for Whitby septic beds.
Mortar Sand (MOR) – Used to make Mortar for block laying and for laying bricks.
3/4” Minus (34M) – Similar to pit run but it is screened so that the stone is 3⁄4” or smaller. It is not a crushed material so the stone is round.
Pit Run (PR) – Bank material that is a stone and sand. It is used for the base when building a driveway. It is also used to back fill around basements. Also called Granular B Type 1.
Stoney Pit Run (PRS) – Same uses as Pit Run but has larger stone.
Fill (F) – Used for filling areas, sometimes as backfill on basements. This is a sand that is dug out of the bank; it may contain a few small stones.
Pond Sand (POND) – This is a very fine sand that is high in silt content. It is used for filling areas. Not recommended for around basements as it holds moisture.
Fill Special (FS) – This is a bank sand that may contain some stone. It is used for filling in areas and sometimes for backfilling basements. It can also be used as a road base under pit run.
Concrete Sand / Winter Sand (WIN) – This is a course-screened sand that is used for making concrete & for traction in winter. It does not contain salt.
Salted Sand (SS) – This is a screened course sand that is used for traction and ice melting in the winter. It contains salt.
4-8 Gabion (Limestone or Granite) – Used for cribbing for docks, gabion baskets, on shorelines and ditches.
6-12 Gabion – Same uses as 4-8 Gabion just bigger.
Screened Topsoil (SCT) – This topsoil is loamy and used for gardens,lawns and under sod.
Garden Mix (GMIX) – This product is a mixture of sand, topsoil, and peat moss. Used for gardens, lawns and under sod.
Peat (PEAT) – This product is pure humus peat moss. It can be used to enrich existing soils.
Reclaimed Asphalt (ASPH) – This is a ground up asphalt and is used for driveways and pathways. It packs very well when the weather is warmer, but stays like clear stone when it is cold.
RED CLAY PRODUCTS
All red brick products are produced from new recycled bricks, baked, crushed and screened to varying gradations for numerous applications. Is a terracotta colour, provides a good drainage medium, colour will not bleed.
3/4” Clear Crushed Brick
Is a fired (baked) clay product screened to sizes ranging from 1⁄2” – 1” with fines removed. Is used mainly as a decorative landscape groundcover, practical as it will not breakdown or harbor insects as will bark or mulch. Too coarse for driveways or walkways, will not compact.
3/8” Clear Crushed Brick
Same as above but screened to a smaller gradation ranging in sizes from 1⁄4” to 1⁄2” with fines removed. Is used mainly as a decorative groundcover, but can be used for driveways, walkways & green roof applications. Will firm up but will not compact.
3/8” Crusher Run Brick
Screened to a 3/8” minus (includes fines). Will enhance the appearance to golf cart paths, driveways and walkways, also used for warning tracks as it gives the “crunch” needed to alert players of their positioning. Sets up and drains well.
3/16” Crusher Run Brick
Screened to a 3/16” minus (includes fines). Is used mainly for running tracks, baseball diamond infield mixes, green roof growing media. Drains well, sets up but will not compact, not recommended for slopes.
