Mother Nature Wins Again…

May 21, 2019

Around the water cooler and in every maintenance facility across this province we try to chat with our colleagues and co-workers about the topic of the day. A few topics that come to mind at the time of this blog are Game of Thrones finale, Big Band Theory finale, the TML exiting the NHL playoffs at the hands of the Big Bad Bruins and of course the Raptors advancing to the Eastern Conference Final of the NBA playoffs and the “shot” by Kawhi Leonard that got them there.

In our attempt to talk about things that make us smile or laugh and hopefully take us away from the realities of everyday life we cannot avoid especially in this industry talking about the weather.

This past April has been one of the coolest and wettest months in recent memory across the province. Here’s a table showing a few cities, how many days in the month of April have been above the seasonal average temperature and the average and actual amount of precipitation that has fallen in these cities.

With this kind of information hopefully we communicate to our members and golfers alike that better weather is just around the corner. Let’s be mindful of where we drive carts to limit the damage and be patient when it comes to growing in seeded areas that were damaged by ice this past winter and getting around to mowing all of this long grass.

The end result will be better playing conditions for all us and if they’re not then it must not be the end!
